Arthros gives grants for equipment, aids, activities and services that help people living with arthritis in the Reading and Wokingham area live more comfortably and independently. If you or someone you support could benefit, we would love to hear from you.
We accept applications for grants towards items, activities and services that are not currently available through the NHS, and that would help you live more independently with arthritis.
We can help with things like:
We will also consider other mobility and life improvement items – just ask.
To be eligible for a grant from Arthros, you must meet all three of the following:
Applicants may normally submit only one grant application within any 12-month period.
Charities, community organisations and groups that support people living with arthritis can also apply, using the Standard Grant form.
We purchase items directly from our preferred suppliers, including Ableworld Reading, so that you receive a quality product. Arthros does not usually give cash directly to individuals – where a grant is awarded, we normally pay the supplier or provider on your behalf.
When you apply, please tell us what you need. If you have any questions, we will do our best to answer them. Please do contact us if you need aids or appliances that are not covered by our smaller grants budget.
Choose the grant that fits your needs. You can apply online for a quicker response, or download the form as a PDF, complete it, and email or post it back to us. Both routes are treated exactly the same.
For everyday aids and equipment that help with washing, dressing, cooking, moving around the home and similar daily tasks.
For activities and services that support wellbeing, or larger items that help promote independence.
If you would prefer to complete a paper form, or you need help filling in an application, please call us on +44 1183 702177 and we will help. A family member, carer, social prescriber or health professional can also apply on your behalf.
Returning a paper form? Email it to info@arthros.org.uk, or post it to Arthros Limited, c/o RISC, 35–39 London Street, Reading, RG1 4PS.
We aim to give you a decision within one month of your application. Please note that Arthros is staffed entirely by volunteers, so response times may occasionally be longer.
We want our process to be clear, accessible and impactful. If you have any questions or feedback, please email info@arthros.org.uk, or phone our charity line on 01183 702177, open Thursdays 10am–12pm. You can also leave a message with your name, contact details and query.
How we handle the information in your application is explained in our Privacy Policy.
